Central Pelion (Milies to Lehonia via the mountain route)

This is the closest excursion, whichever apartment of ArtEsPelion you're staying in. This is a more relaxed one, more about good food, good coffee, lots of photography and some walking. We usually return to base from the "sea route" (Lehonia - Malaki - Kato Gatzea - Kala Nera).

Miliés

A historic village, founded in the 1500s by settlers who moved here from Milies of Evoia. Ένα ιστορικό χωριό, το οποίο ιδρύθηκε το 1500κάτι από κατοίκους των Μηλεών Ευβοίας. In 1814 the Public Library of Milies was founded, being the first public library in the newly liberated (from the Turks only) Greece. Meanwhile, the church at the center of the village is another attraction, having been renovated in the 1740s and featuring some unique architecture and building techniques.

The village is a very touristic destination, full of cafés, restaurants, shops, mini markets, a pharmacy and a police station and a lot more.

Milies is one end of the famous Pelion Train "Moutzouris", between Milies and Lehonia, built in early 1900s by Evaristo de Chirico.

Vyzítsa

Lots of traditional houses, a very picturesque main square with good food and lots of places worth photographing.

PInakátes

A very picturesque village, where it's very worth to wander around in the cobbled paths and admire the architecture of traditional houses. In the village square you'll find very good food, as well as in the outskirts (more on that on my food recommendations page).

Ágios Geórgios Nilías

About the same as Pinakates. Lots of nice photography spots, good food and coffee.

Ágios Vlásios

Yet one more picturesque village. You park somewhere near the church (which was painted by my father, the iconography inside the church) and the main village square is about 50m below but not immediately visible. I highly recommend stopping at Magirakia for food, if you find yourselves a table 🙂
