Hi, this is Trian.
I am from Milies, Pelion, Greece. I grew up between Milies and Volos, did my university studies in the UK and Germany in the field of software engineering, yet my heart lies in all things creative. My father and his sister are both well-established painters, so I grew up in an artistic environment. My first professional steps were in photography, which I "had" to stop in order to follow an IT career, which I still pursue.
As of 2005 I have:
- between 2005-10 I worked at University of Thessaly, Department of Mechanical Engineering, designing and producing software for organising the work of Civil Protection on a Regional level and for the transportation / logistics sector
- from 2010 onwards, I work at Hellenic Train (formerly Trainose), where I started up the IT department from ground zero and pretty much designed and implemented all their core software infrastructures. The highlights:
- I designed and implemented the ticketing system that was running from December 2010 to October 2014, along with all the related management systems (timetable, train composition, tariff and offer management, traffic control software etc
- the highly customised staff rostering and scheduling system, plus a mini HRM system to go along
- and much much more
Creativity
Although I'm following a career in IT, deep down I'm a very creative and artistic person, and this has to be part of any work I do. It's the side of me that fills me and balances an otherwise very stressful life and attracts me more and more as the years go by.
All the years that I have been an IT professional, I have also been a typographer and graphics artist for my employers, and I never lost touch with photography. For example, all my rentals have been decorated with photo-collages which serve as a mini tourist guide for the area.
Parallel to that, as of 2015 I've worked a lot on home renovations, with projects both in Athens and in Pelion, as well as with woodworking. In all my rentals I've built furniture, I've curated the decoration and I did the overall house setup.
